Galleon Quest

Origional content from VGCrafters..

To start the quest you need to obtain a set of Schematics from the Core Processor (costs 1p, can be downloaded by anyone in the fight, tradeable), and then need to decode it to a set of plans using a Ring purchased from Professor Hopton in the Gnome Outpost (costs 2pp, not tradable). Right-click the resulting plans to start the quest, sends you to any Master Shipwright, no firther visits to APW required. You need to know all 3 Caravel styles to do the Galleon quest, but there is no further faction requirement.

The quest requires you to make a few items (7 in total). The final item costs 2pp (2.5pp?) in parts, BUT a Diplomat can obtain the parts for you for "free" through a single Parley.

The quest is for one continent, depending on which Schematics you start with. Once done, you can learn the final combine for the other continents by obtaining the appropriate Plans and right-clicking them.

Total cost = 3x Downloaders @1pp + 3x Decoders @2pp; Downloaders can be purchased by anyone, Decoders must be purchased by the Carpenter.

Carpenter does not need to participate in the Core fight but does need to be APW keyed to get the Decoder ring.

Any level 48 Carpenter can get APW keyed regardless of Adventuring level.

So minimum requirements:

  • min level 48 Carpenter
  • know all 3 Caravel recipes
  • APW keyed
  • 2pp per Continent learned

Just to complete the picture, and add to Skaw's excellent info on the Galleon quest, if you spend the 1pp on the downloader from the gnomes inside APW, you need to be part of the raid group (groups 1-3) that attack and beat the core processor. Activating the downloader during the fight roots you in place for 65 seconds during which time you cannot do anything else. When you beat the core, Prof Telpon's spirit appears. Talking to him changes your full downloader into a continental style galleon blueprint. The continent is random. These blueprints are tradeable, as Skaw says.

Accessing the gnome city in APW lets you buy the decoder ring for 2pp which then converts your blueprints into a schematic, right clicking on which gives you the quest.

Once you have completed the quest, building the model galleon from the assorted parts either purchased for 2pp or obtained via diplomacy, you will have all of the recipes for all of the galleon parts for all continents PLUS the final combine recipe for continental style obtained in APW. You can, therefore, make a galleon of any continent after doing the quest once - you just need to find a master shipwright who has completed the quest for any continent for which you ahve not yet obtained the blueprints and have them do the final combine with the parts (hull, deck and mast) that you made.

If you read the downloader (mouse over it), it says the Core Processor has to be in a particular state for you to get anything when you activate the Downloader. The core Processor is only in that state when it is still alive and has been engaged.

In order to download anything, you have to activate the downloader during the fight with the Core Processor. When you do, you are rooted in place and unable to do anything for 65 seconds. At the end of that time, you are left with a full downloader, whether you beat the core processor or not.

In order to convert your full downloader into a Galleon Blueprint, you have to take your full downloader to the spirit of Prof Telpon, who only appears when the Core Porcessor is beaten. Once you talk to the spirit, he will take away your full downloader and give you the galleon blueprint. I.e. in order to convert your full downloader into a galleon blueprint, you have to beat the core processor, but multiple people can turn in full downloaders following one succesful fight against the core. A carpenter can then convert the blueprint to a schematic and start the quest to make the galleon using the decoder ring.

12/12 The questline works now. Thestran final combine recipe is missing. Final combine for Qalian galleon results in destroyed materials
