Faction Mounts

STEP 1: Decide which mount you want. You do not have to choose your race's mount, although beware that you may end up kos to your hometown, and/or it may
cost additional faction coins to obtain it.

STEP 2: Visit the npc listed underneath your mount for a necklace (you must be level ten or higher). Equip the necklace and start killing. Any mob that grants you experience has a chance of giving you faction coin. The coins automatically appear in your pack (they are not looted) so make sure you have open packspaces available.

STEP 3: Turn your coins in to the same npc who gave you the necklace. The rewards are as follows:

  • copper = 1 faction
  • silver = 10 faction
  • gold = 100 faction
  • plat coins = do not give faction, they are used to purchase the mount.

I've heard you can exchange gold coins for plat coins, but haven't tested this myself.

  • Level 30 mount = requires 1k "Citizens of "cityname" faction"
  • Level 50 mount = requires 18k "Citizens of "cityname" faction"

To see your faction, look on your diplo tab (my citizens of [city] faction were at the bottom)

STEP 4: When you get the appropriate faction, head for the "creature handler" npc standing amongst the mounts on display and pick up a quest:
Ancient platinum coins can be exchanged for the city plat coin, one for one.

  • 50 platinum coins for the level 30 mount.
  • 100 platinum coins for the level 50 mount.
  • 150 platinum coins for the level 50 mount (if you had not bought the level 30 mount

So basically -

Mounts:
(Level 30) = 1000 faction + 50 Platinum coins (+70 ground speed, +50 stability)
(Level 50) = 18000 faction + 150 Platinum coins/100 if you have the level 30 mount (+90 ground speed, +70 stability)

Flying Mount:
Pegasus = 18000 faction + 350 Platinum coins (+110 air speed, +70 ground speed, required level 10)

You can also get ancient coins by crafting (exchange 1 silver sigil for 1 coin) or diplomacy (120 hearsay, 80 rumor or 40 evidence, all t5)
To exchange these, visit a "Masterwork Crafter".

IMPORTANT

  • If your character is NOT a crafter, you will not see the sigil exchange option.
  • If your character is NOT a diplomat, you will not see the diplomacy information exchange option.

Mobs known to drop coins

As copper, silver and gold coins only drop from mobs that give you experience as well, it's not possible to go and farm low-levelled Plat-droppers.--
