Quest Offering:
Vauni says, "What the villagers here need is someone who has the time to train them. Looking around, everyone here is either too busy, meaning the guards and I, or unqualified, meaning just about everyone else. Except for that dwarf."
"Ironbrow is his name, and from what he told me he's an adventurer of sorts. See if you can't convince him into lending this village his aid by training the militia. I'm sure Lord Renton could work out some sort of reimbursement for his efforts."
Npc Dialogue
Gert Ironbrow
* "Greetings to you, master dwarf, I am {name}, and I have a proposition for you," you begin.
* "Straight and to the point, are ya? Well then, allow me to retort. Gert Ironbrow, and it's a pleasure to meet you, master {race}. I make take up your offer," Gert smiles.
* You ask, "I am under the impression that you are an adventurer of sorts, perhaps an axe for hire even. Is this true?"
* Gert nods once. "Aye. That I am."
* You continue, "Very well, then perhaps we can do business…"
* "Doubt it," replies Gert, before you can finish.
* "What do you mean?" you ask.
* Gert cracks his neck from side to side and responds, "I don't work for Renton."
* You ask, "Why not?"
* Gert smirks. "Not too aware of things, are you? Well, no matter, I refuse to work for that man."
* "I don't understand…" you begin.
* Gert says, "He's taxing these people half to death, and that means they have no coin to spare on creature comforts. That means that they can't afford good beer or ale, which means there's no good ale in town. Therefore, Lord Renton is directly responsible for why I can't find a decent drink in this whole village."
* You blink. Gert laughs.
* "Easy there. You can get me a key of dwarven darkbrew from the Three Rivers Post at Khazbatak just up the road, and I'll hear what you've got to say."
* "I'd rather you hear what I have to say before I go lugging around a keg of ale," you offer.
* Gert shrugs. "Right, right. Let's hear it then."
* You say, "I'd like you to train the men of the village how to fight so they can form a militia and ease pressure off of Renton's guards. Doing so would allow them to track down Draven and his bandits. Renton is willing to compensate you greatly for your cooperation."
* Gert smiles. "If the darkbrew keeps coming, then I'll keep training. Oh, and maybe some lamb. I'll have your village ready for battle in no time, so long as I got my pipe, my ale, and my meals."
* You nod. "Well then, you were saying something about darkbrew ale and Khazbatak. What exactly did you have in mind?"
* "Fellhammer has a few kegs left and there's a shipment on the way. Just go up there and convince him to give you a barrel to gold old Ironbrow and bring it back. Do that, and I'll train your villagers."
Guard Fellhammer
* You introduce yourself, "Greetings master dwarf, my name is {name}. I have a rather strange request from a friend of yours named Ironbrow…"
* "Sten!" shouts Fellhammer. "Sten Ironbrow. Why, I haven't talked with him in years, how is that old shortbeard doing?"
* "Actually," you say, "it's Gert Ironbrow whom I am referring to."
* Fellhammer's demeanor shifts. "Oh, that Ironbrow."
* You suddenly realize that Gert probably just set you up for a very difficult situation. "Is there a problem that I'm unaware of?" you ask.
* "Nothing you have to worry about, {name}. I know why he sent you here, and we aren't parting with any of our darkbrew," states Fellhammer confidently.
* You think fast and twist the argument, "Actually, he sent me up here to tell you that Edson has the most amazing brew he's ever tasted and wanted you all to come down and confirm that Edson's brew was better than darkbrew."
* Fellhammer snorts in defiance. "No human ale could ever compare to a dwarf's. He's obviously lost his mind drinking the stuff."
* You shrug. "I'm just relaying his message. If you don't believe it, you should head to Three Rivers and have a taste testing."
* "Bah, I would, believe me, but I'm honor bound not to leave my post," explains Fellhammer.
* You smirk. "Sure you aren't afraid that Edson's ale will be better?"
* Fellhammer grumbles, "I've got no fear of that ever happening. Ever. However, I can't stand the thought that Edson might be thinking he's done the impossible. Word of that could cause all kinds of problems for us dwarves. I have to stomp this out before it spreads."
* "How?" you ask. "You said yourself that you can't venture down to Three Rivers to compare."
* Fellhammer ponders things for a moment until he finally appears to relent. "Fine fine, I'll send you down there with a key of darkbrew and then you set up a taste testing. We'll see how Edson feels once he's tasted the real thing."
* You nod. "Very well then. Can you point me toward a key of darkbrew?"
Quest Completion
* Gert takes the keg and sets it on the ground. He grasps the spigot, and pours some of the darkbrew into his tankard.
* With a puff of his chest he lifts the mug to his lips and drinks deeply.
* "Ahh, now that's the stuff!" he says with a sigh of relief, slipping the empty flagon back onto his belt.
* "How'd you swindle old Fellhammer out of this? He told me they were running dry! Bah, no matter, let's you and me discuss just how big of a mistake I've managed to stumble into this fine day."
* Gert rumbles with laughter.
