Quest Offering:
* Baron Waltman says, "I know you are busy doing the King's work, but I could use your help if you have the time to give it."
* "The King's last procalmation, which declared that more of our farmer's crops were going to be confiscated for the war effort, did not go over so well. The farmers are threatening not to send anything at all. Would you please go to the farmers and explain why this is necessary? The firebrand Arthur Roband is the head of their lot. It's him you'll need to talk to."

Farmer Arthur Roband
* Arthur says, "Without the Rindol Storehouse, there's many folk who'll go hungry unless we farm every scrap of land we can."
* You say, "Farmer Arthur Roband, I hear you're a little angry about what's been coming out of New Targonor."
* "You mean the fact that they are stealing more of our grain?" asks Arthur.
* "Yes," you say. "You do understand why it's happening, don't you?"
* "I do," says Arthur, "they need food for the soldiers."
* "But what then?" you ask.
* "We have just been hit very hard here lately," he says. "With the Storehouse infested with brownies, we rely on what comes out of the ground to eat."
* "It is all well and good to feed the soldiers," says Arthur, "but we need to feed ourselves first."
* "So it's not the fact they are taking anything, it is how much they are taking?" you ask.
* Arthur nods and says, "I am happy to put forward something for the good of our people. But they are asking for too much!"
* You nod and say, "The formal appeals should be made, but it will do not good for anyone to simply refuse to send the grain."
* "What else can we do?" asks Arthur. "How else can we be heard?"
* "Waltman can make formal appeals for you," you say. "They may not understand how dire the situation is here."
* "Would Waltman do that?" asks Arthur critically.
* You nod and say, "I will make sure that he does."
* "Then I suppose that is the better approach," says Arthur with a frown. "Though if we don't see it turned around soon, they won't be seeing any grain from us."
Baron Horace Waltman
- Horace says, "It's amazing what high tariffs the Qalians put on trade goods!"
- You say, "Barton Waltman, I spoke with Farmer Arthur."
- "And?" aks Waltman with a drawn expression. "Has he agreed to back down?"
- "Very nearly," you say.
- "Very nearly?" asks Waltman angrily. "What is that supposed to mean?"
- "What that means is that I had a frank discussion with him about the situation," you say.
- "And he made it clear to me that New Targonor asks for too much," you say. "With all of the hardship Tursh has faced lately, they cannot afford to give up as much as the King asks for."
- Baron Waltman looks confused and then asks, "Well, what would you have me do about it?"
- "The farmers will stop their protest if you agree to speak with New Targonor about lessening the amount they demand," you say.
- "They are more than happy to give up a significant amount of their crops," you continue, "just not so much that they themselves cannot eat."
- "I am sure that New Targonor will see the sense in that," you say. "They cannot starve those who make their grain and expect them to keep supplying it."

* Horace says, "I daren't spend too much time with you. I'm working out a complicated trade agreement with Khal, and it requires my full attention."
* Baron Waltman says, "It is a difficult thing to comminicate between two sides who have very righteous reasons for believing they do…"
