Quest Offering:
Aslak Carul says, "I need to settle a debt down at the race track. The money's due today, and I cannot leave. I will lend you one of my swiftest horses if you will take this money to the track for me. Rochara is not one you want to anger." She scowls.
"I have a debt with Samarel Kalun as well. We place a friendly be last time I was up there. I lost. While you're up there, could you pay it off as well? I want our next bet to be a friendly one too."
"Make certain they both look on me favorably."
Npc Dialogue
Samarel Kalun
You say, "Samarel. I need to speak with you."
Samarel glances at you and asks, "What?"
You ask, "Aslak asked me to bring you the money she owes you." You toss it to him.
He looks over it. "It's all here, good," he says. "You have me thanks."
You say, "Aslak apologizes it has been so long."
"Aslak? Apologize?" he asks, peering at you.
"Well," you say, "she said she wanted to be sure you have friendly bets in the future."
Samarel chuckles and says, "So she did not actually apologize, yes. It is a matter of gambling."
"Tell her that we will gamble together again," he says, "and it will be friendly."
You nod to him and say, "She will be glad to hear it."
Samarel shrugs and says, "She never wins. Of course I will keep betting with her."
Rochara Djereg
"Rochara," you say, "I have a payment for you."
She looks you up and down. "I did not realize you owed me money," she says.
You shake your head. "I do not," you say, "but Aslak does."
"Ahh, yes," says Rochara with a smile. "Aslak always owes me money."
You chuckle and say, "It seems she does not bet well."
Rochara shakes her head and says, "She always bets on the lame horse, because the returns are greater."
"But you should not bet on a lame horse," says Rochara.
"That is wisdom if I ever heard it," you say.
"If the lame horse ever wins," admits Rochara, "Aslak will be a wealthy woman indeed."
"But I do not think that will happen," she says.
You nod and say, "Against the swiftness of a healthy varanthari steed? Never."
"But," you add, "I think a lame varanthari horse could best a whole team of healthy horses if they were raised by anyone else."
Rochara smiles at you and says, "Wisely said."
You ask, "So you are not angry with her?"
Rochara blinks and says, "She keeps me well-fed, that woman. Of course not."
Quest Completion
Rochara says, "I see Aslak lent you her horse. I will hold onto it."
Rochara says, "After all, she may not pay me so swiftly next time. But you can have this for your trouble."
She looks you up and down, "I may have more work for you - if you are sturdy enough."
