Quest Offering:
- "As I said, even with my extensive studies, I don't know what the orcs want with a prisoner exchange," Sun Cho says. "I've never heard of them asking for their prisoners back."
- "Speak to Haroji Jadedragon first. He'll have a contract for you to take. After that, I've marker a couple of places on the map where you can talk to orcs. Find out what they want in exchange for the prisoners. It doesn't help anything with the orcs if you show ignorance."
Npc Dialogue
Guan Sun Cho
- "This peace council is a very surprising proposal, to say the least," Guan Sun Cho says.
- "It is, but what is this about a captive exchange?" you ask.
- "The orcs have asked us specifically, before the council comes together, for an exchange of captives," she says.
- "I, however," she continues, "am overextended with this Tawar Galan business though. Courtiers are coming to me I've never spoken to."
- "You are in a prime position for advancement now," you say.
- "That is tru," she says. "They laughed at me before, saying that this position was a joke."
- "And now everyone wants to have the ear of the Superintendent of Orcish Affairs," you say.
- "Exactly, and I hate sycophants," she says. "But this new hostage exchange is more than I can deal with right now."
- "You need an agent acting for you, one that can facilitate this who thing smoothly," you say.
- "And you can do that?" she asks.
- "I have shown discretion and cunning in the past," you say.
- "I'm aware. I've heard your name on the lips of many courtiers and magistrates recently," she says. "Many times in a good way."
- "What do you need me to do?" you ask.
- "There will be much research involved," she says, "as I still don't know what the orcs are getting at."
- "I can take care of that," you say. "Just point me in the right direction."
- "I think you will do just fine," Guan Sun Cho says, smiling.
Haroji Jadedragon
- "Magistrate Jadedragon, I have come at the request of Guan Sun Cho." You bow deeply.
- "What matters of hers have brought you her?" he says. "Are you looking to curry favor with her too?"
- "No," you say. "She has asked me to facilitate the prisoner exchange with the orcs."
- "Ah," he says. "She has lain that on your shoulders, eh? So you are here for the contract."
- "I am," you say. "What is on it?"
- "Since we don't know what they'll agree to, and we are sending you alone, I have drawn up a blank one."
- "But be extremely careful with this," he says. "As you don't have a recognised Imperial chop, I was forced to use my own. Whatever is put on here, I am beholden to."
- "I will protect it no matter the cost," you say, putting it in your pouch.
- "You have the power to agree to anything they offer," he says, "but if you promise something we can't give, I'll see that you atone for your mistake in front of the Emporer himself."
- "I understand the weight of the matter," you say. "I am out for what best prospers Tanvu, not Martok."
- "That will be fine then," he says.
- "I thank you for your trust, magistrate."
- // You have looted Unfinished Contract.//
Skragg
- "Skragg!" you yell. "Just the orc I was looking for."
- "Wait," he calls out. "I don't know what I did, but I didn't do it."
- You watch him stop swaying for a moment. "I'm not here about that," you say. "I want to talk to you about something."
- "Oh no," he says. "I don't like the sound of that."
- "You shouldn't," you say. "You're a sharp orc."
- He beams. "You know, my mother always said I'd make the Gulgrethor proud."
- "Aren't you part of the Martok clan?" you ask.
- "Wait a minute," he says. You see his brow furrow. "I am Martok! I'll kill that woman!"
- "Now before you go do that," you say. "I have a question to ask you. Tell me about the Gulgrethor and Martok struggle."
- "They are Gulgrethor," he says. "They are backstabbers and thieves, every one of them."
- "And the Martok?" you ask.
- "Are strong, proud and honorable in our combat. We do not turn on allies in the dead of night," he says.
- "So, anything you could get to stop the Gulgrethor, your people would take, right?"
- "Anything!" he shouts. "If we could, we'd do the same to them that they did to us."
- "Wait, I thought… never mind. Thank you for the story."
Targok
- "Are you the one named Targot?" you ask, dodging the swaying mass.
- "That's what the last guy called me," he says.
- "And what happened to him?"
- "He's dead."
- "Then I'll call you something else," you say. "I was hoping to ask you some questions."
- "What?"
- "If you could have anything in the world," you say, "what would you want?"
- "The Gulgrethor dead," he says.
- "Well at least you're all consistent," you mutter. "And what do you need to do that?"
- "Them," he says, "at the end of my sword."
- "Alright," you say. "I can tell this is getting places. So, what would help you get them at the end of your sword?"
- "I see what you're getting at," he says. "You want to sell me a bugger sword."
- "You're a bright one," you say. "I can see you do the Martok proud. Let's try a different route. Do the Gulgrethor live over land or over sea."
- "Over both," he says. "They don't live under either. Then they couldn't breathe."
- "Wow," you say. "How many of those drinks have you had?"
- "How many do I look like I've had?"
- "Far too many to count," you say, "but that's neither here not there. We'll try direct. Can you assault the Gulgrethor by traveling on foot?"
- "No," he says. "Not well. If we could, we would have."
- "So, ships would help then," you say. "Thank your for they enlightening conversation."
- "Hey, I didn't enlighten anything. Don't try and pin that on me."
- "You're right," you say. "I'll just leave now. Thank you."
Warden Narnix
- "Warden Narnix," you say, bowing. "I would like to speak to you."
- "Who are you?" she asks. "How did you get out of the pen?"
- "I'm from Tanvu," you say. "I was sent by Guan Sun Cho to negotiate the release of our prisoners."
- "Ah," she says, smiling. "I didn't know if you were actually going to take us up on that. Let's get down to business then."
- "Let's", you say. "I'll start off easy. We want our displaced settlers back."
- "And we want something in exchange," she says. "That wasn't so hard."
- "I don't think I have any 'something' in my bag," you say.
- "Look, don't get quippy," she says. "I'm neither drunk nor a foot soldier."
- "My apologies," you say. "I didn't mean to insult you. We are prepared for a full prisoner exchange. All of your settlers for all of ours."
- "That is very human of you," she says. "We don't want our settlers back. You can keep them."
- "Excuse me?" you say. "Why is that?"
- "If they were foolish or stupid enough to be captured, they aren't Martok. We only need Martok right now."
- "That's not what I heard," you say, smiling.
- "Oh? Is that so? What did you hear we need?"
- "Weapons of war," you say. "Particularly the means to travel overseas to assault the Gulgrethor where they least expect it."
- "That is true," she says, nodding approvingly. "Is your government willing to make this trade?"
- "Yes, we will give you the materials to build a navy and heavy engines of war, and you give us all our settlers back."
- "That sounds amicable," she says. She shakes your hand. "Glad we could do business."
- You have looted Signed Contract.
Governor Jalixfin
- "Governor Jalixfix," you say. "I am Demila of Tanvu. I was sent to negotiate the release of our settlers."
- "Yes, I am aware," he says. "Have you spoken with the Warden yet? They are technically his."
- "I have," you say. "We have come to an agreement." You hand him the contract.
- "What are the terms?" he says. "I don't care about what's on a piece of paper."
- "You will give us back all of our settlers you currently have," you say.
- "And what will you give us?"
- "We will provide you with the raw materials to build a navy and heavy machines of war," you say.
- "You will not provide us with an already built fleet?" he asks.
- "Would your soldiers really be willing to sail on a vessel of Tanvu design?" you ask. "And besides, we're not stupid enough to give you our own ships."
- "Thank goodness," he says. "That would have seriously damaged my respect for your people."
- "I'm sure it would have," you say.
- "Will you offer no help in destroying the Gulgrethor?" he asks.
- "None," you say.
Quest Completion
- "That is a pity," Governor Jalixfin says. "Though I doubt the soldiers would be willing to accept human help, the offer would have been nice."
- [Continue]
- "I will send a runner of ours back to your people," he says. "They can get there quickly. Besides, if you've seen inside of our capitol, it's only fair we see yours. Make no mistake, some day we will be at war."
- "However, today is not that day," Jalixfin says, smiling. "Take one of these facets as a gift. I'm sure dealing with the more pickled of my people was not a pleasant experience."
