Quest Offering:
  • Petitioner Nat gives you a shark-like grin. "An alliance!" he exclaims.
  • "The wood elves have knowledge of nature. If we ally with them, they can help us quell the yukiona in the Wildgrowth Forest so that we can march to war. Once the Gulgrethor are dead, we can return the favor by having our warseers crush the ulvari."
  • "It's a plan so brilliant only an uninformed, stubborn Warchief would refuse it," he smirks.
  • "Say, you've got a way with words, maybe you could convince the Warchief to try my plan?"
  • "This would be much easier if Martok had ever allied with the wood elves before… and maybe if we hadn't invaded them in the past."
  • You receive Peace Proposal.
Npc Dialogue
Petitioner Nat
  • "The wood elves will avoid war at any cost, but it we could convince them of the inevitability of the Gulgrethor attacking them, we could gain a powerful ally."
  • Petitioner Nat mutters about the yukiona.
  • You ask, "What is that you are muttering about? Don't you know it will get you nowhere?"
  • Petitioner Nat says, "Nonsense! Some of my best conversations happen while I'm muttering to myself. What business is it of yours anyway?"
  • "Well, I couldn't help but notice that you seemed to be in the midst of a heated debate with yourself about the yukiona," you offer.
  • Petitioner Nat nods, giving you a cool eye. "So what if I was?"
  • You reply, "Maybe there is something I can do to help. here is a great deal of talk about the Wildgrowth Forest and the yukiona. Maybe I've heard something that would help you."
  • "Bah!" says Petitioner Nat. "I have heard it all. The yukiona are nature spirits, not the souls of the departed that our dear warseers commune with so easily. That's our problem."
  • You say, "I'm not sure I'm following."
  • Petitioner Nat says, "It's easy. If you want masters of the spirits of the dea, you find a warseer. But if you want mastery over the earth spirits, you find yourself a wood elf."
  • "Then why don't you find a wood elf to help you?" you ask.
  • Petitioner Nat says, "That's what I'm muttering about!"
  • You shake your head. "No, you were muttering about the yukiona, not wood elves."
  • "I wasn't to the good part yet," Petitioner Nat snaps back. "Besides, wood elves aren't exactly friendly."
  • You say, "There has to be some way of getting a wood elf shaman over here to deal with the yukiona. Gold, jewels, something."
  • Petitioner Nat smirks. "All the wood elves want is to be left alone - a premise I'm beginning to fully understand with all of this tiresome warring all the time."
Warchief Zowb
  • You say, "Warchief. I bring to you a proposal to help the Martok crush the Gulgrethor. Will you hear it?"
  • Warchief Zowb says, "I will."
  • You reply, "War with the elves of Ca'ial Brael have been left long in the past of martok. If peace were sought between the Martok and the wood elves, perhaps a secret to defeating the yukiona would present itself."
  • "Does Nat not understand that we cannot ally with the wood elves?" asks Warchief Zowb. "It is weakness to ask for their aid. Ghalnn would smite us all."
  • You say, "If Martok is defeated by the Gulgrethor, then it is likely that Ghalnn will smith you all anyway."
  • Warchief Zowb laughs. "That's assuming the Gulgrethor win."
  • "The vitality of the Martok has never been in question," you say. "Even against the betrayal of Karujin, the Martok survived. It is what they do best."
  • Warchief Zowb nods. "Exactly, we dont' need allies to crush the Gulgrethor."
  • You say, "No, but would Ghalnn frown upon using elves to hold the yukiona at bay while you attacked and slaughtered the Gulgrethor in their fortress?"
  • Warchief Zowb narrows his eyes and smiles. "That would suit Ghalnn just fine!"
  • "Then agree to the treaty and begin the march to victory," you say.
  • Warchief Zowb laughs. "My march to victory will be much easier than yours, Demila. The wood elves are notorious for being reclusive. Getting them out of their forest will be like prying a blood crab from its shell."
  • You say, "The I'll have to bring a hammer and crack their shells open."
  • Warchief Zowb says, "Speak with Captain Sharnath then. You can find him at the ports. Inform him to cease pirate activity on non-Gulgrethor ships. Perhaps that will give the wood elves the right message."
  • You nod. "I shall find him."
Captain Sharnath
  • "Can I interest you in some fine foreign goods?"
  • You say, "Captain Sharnath. I bear word from the warchief."
  • Sharnath snarls, "Say your piece, then leave me be."
  • "The warchief has decreed that you are to cease attacks on non-Gulgrethor vessels," you say.
  • Sharnath studies you carefully. "You got proof?"
  • You show him the letter. "Martok is changing its tactics."
  • "I think that's a poor idea, but who am I to question the warchief?" says Sharnath.
  • You say, "I am headed to Tawar Galan to offer an alliance with the wood elves. I was thinking perhaps a show of peace would aid me in my efforts. Perhaps something stolen from the wood elves and then returned to them."
  • Sharnath nods. "Perhaps."
  • You ask, "Do you have anything that fits that description?"
  • Sharnath smiles. "No."
  • "Don't lie to me Sharnath," you say. "It's well known that you strip ships to their keel."
  • Sharnath's grin broadens. "That may be so, but I'm not giving you anything but my word that I won't attack any elven vessels."
  • You repeat, "Non-Gulgrethor vessels."
  • Sharnath chuckles. "Very well. The warchief will have me back out in a few days, but until then, I wouldn't mind fishing for Gulgrethor."
  • You say, "That's the spirit."
Aedorwen Gladesworn
  • You say, "Captain, I bring a message from Martok bound for the Wardens of Ca'ial Brael."
  • Aedorwen glances to you. "Then why bring it to me?"
  • You reply, "It affects you directly. It would be inefficient for me to travel all the way to Ca'ial Brael without knowing whether the wood elves would be amiable or not."
  • She asks, "Our skepticism is often viewed as hostility, but only because the inneptitude of others forces us to be si. That being said, what brings you here?"
  • You're pretty sure that wasn't a threat. "The Martok clan wishes to extend a peace proposal to the people of Ca'ial Brael. As a sign of good faith, they have directed their piracy at Gulgrethor vessels only for the length of my mission."
  • You say, "Martok has realized that the wood elves of Ca'ial Brael have something to offer them, and they believe that they have something to offer you, beyond a halting of piracy."
  • "And what would that be?" she asks.
  • You reply, "The yukiona are nature spirits. The Martok believe that the wood elves may be able to drive them back to their mountain, or possibly destroy them."
  • Aedorwen Gladesworn replies, "And what would Martok offer us?"
  • You say, "The Martok warseers believe that they may be able to destroy the ulvari that plague your forests."
  • Aedorwen Gladesworn says, "And why would I need to be informed of this? This is a matter for the Wardens."
  • "Because the Martok would like to set up a diplomatic embassy in Tawar Galan," you say. "They have realized in their bitter fight for survival that it is better to make allies and work together than to crush your neighbors and enslave them."
  • "If the Wardens agree, then I will welcome the Martok here," she begins. "However, it should be known that even the humblest host has their limits."
  • You nod. "I shall bring word that you wait on the Wardens' decision regarding wether to welcome Martok ambassadors."
Elder Irwol
  • You greet Elder Irwol. "Greetings, I bring word from Martok bound for the Wardens, but I though it best to consult with the neighbours of the wood elves first."
  • "Consult with us on what?" asks Elder Irwol.
  • You say, "It may be inknown to you, but the Martok Clan and wood elves of Ca'ial Brael have a long history of war. The Martok now seek peace."
  • Elder Irwol says, "Intriguing. I am wall aware of the stories of the orc and goblin raids in the past. Why do you think that the elves will react positively to this offer?"
  • You say, "The Martok believe that they can aid Ca'ial Brael with the ulvari threat, in return for the wood elves aiding them in the yukiona threat."
  • "Two spiritual adversaries pitted against the wrong opponents," says Elder Irwol in contemplation. "I suppose that is as good a reason as any for peace."
  • You nod. "You seem uncertain of something, what is it?"
  • Elder Irwol says, "I am merely wondering who would send soldiers to aid whom first? Neither side has many to spare, from what I've been told of Martok."
  • "Martok, of course, hopes that the wood elves would be able to drive off the yukiona to allow for them to destroy the Gulgrethor, and eliminate a comment threat," you say.
  • Elder Irwol nods and ponders, "That would make sense, however, where would the soldiers come from?"
  • You smile, "If the Gulgrethor are being attacked, their navy would be pulled home to participate, and that would mean that Tawar Galan would not have to be manned nearly as heavily."
  • "This is true," says Elder Irwol. "And once the Gulgrethor are driven off, the weight of both can be applied against the ulvari."
  • You say, "The Raki would know best. Would that be sufficient to destroy the ulvari?"
  • Elder Irwol shrugs. "I am uncertain. To our knowledge, the ulvari have never been beaten, but perhaps it is the combined strength of all our people that is needed to destroy them."
  • Elder Irwol smiles. "You have my blessing, should the Warden bother asking. I beleive that, at the very least, the wood elves might gain another strong ally, and put an end to one great evil in this world."
Iona Riverborn
  • You say, "Warden, I bear word from Martok."
  • Iona Riverborn says, "For your sake, I hope it is worth the trip."
  • "Martok seeks peace," you state. "They believe that the fighting with the wood elves in the past should be remedied now, while there is still time."
  • "Speak plainly, Demila. What is it the Martok want?" asks Iona Riverborn.
  • You say, "Peace will allow you to work together, to forge an alliance and crush the evil from the lands. To slay the ulvari, to kill the Gulgrethor, and to drive off the maddened spirits of the yukiona."
  • Iona Riverborn speaks slowly, "What makes the Martok think they can defeat the ulvari? Do they believe themselves superior to us?"
  • "No," you reply. "But the combined efforts of both peoples would be superior."
  • "What guarantee do we have that the Martok will not betray us?" asks Iona Riverborn. "What actions have been taken over these words?"
  • You say, "The Martok have ceased piracy upon all but Gulgrethor vessels."
  • Iona Riverborn nods. "That is a start. What is Martok's plan?"
  • You begin, "With the Gulgrethor under attack from Martok, their fleet will return home to engage in the fighting. This will mean that Tawar Galan's garrison can be reduced. By sending the freed troops north to Martok, they can assist the Martok defenders in keeping the yukiona at bay."
  • "Once the Gulgrethor are crushed, both armies can move to Ca'ial Brael to fight the ulvari," you continue. "Elder Irwin believes that the combined strength of all our people could be what is needed to drive the ulvari away."
  • Iona Riverborn asks, "What if the yukiona cannot be enticed to leave?"
  • You say, "I don't believe that a wood elf would ever rest knowing that such a spirit were not at peace with itself. I believe that with the destruction of the Gulgrethor, we will find that the yukiona are eased."
  • She nods. "We shall extend the offer of peace back to the Martok. For their sake, I hope they adhere to it."
Quest Completion
  • "I find your suggestion compelling," says Iona Riverborn.
  • [Continue]
  • "The Wardens shall do waht we can to calm the yukiona in your Wildgrowth Forest, so long as the Martok adhere to their end of the agreement by dispatching the Gulgrethor pirates and aiding us in driving off the ulvari."
  • She glances at the documetns. "I suppose Sal will find use for these."
