Quest Offering:
- "What does it mean to be Speaker of the Stone?" you ask.
- Speaker Silion studies you and asks, "Do you think that the earth has a voice?"
- "I would not presume to know," you say.
- "Well, I act as a translator of that voice," says Speaker Silion. "I rank only below Tadven Basalheart among those who follow the Path of the Stone."
- "There are two other Speakers of the Stone," says Speaker Silion. "And we carry the needs of the earth and stone to those who must hear them."
- "And what sort of needs are those?" you ask.
- Speaker Silion looks irritated by your question. "The corruption of the earth by waste given off by others… the over excavation of ores and minerals…"
- "Whatever harms the earth, we address," says Speaker Silion. "And cull however we may."
- "And do you find the council receptive to your concerns?" you ask.
- "Sometimes," says Speaker Silion, frowning. "Obviously, Tadven himself is a member of the council and advocates our cause, but not all the other Wardens see the earth as a priority."
- "But it is your job to influence them," you say, "and see that they acknowlede those problems."
- "Precisely," says Speaker Silion. "So that the earth does not go unacknowledged."
- Speaker Silion says, "Among the Tanvu humans, there is a sect that follows what they call Ra'Jin. They believe it to be an aspect of Jin, but we know them to be corruptors of Jin."
- "This is but one limb of Tancu that has gone gangrenous. Ulvari infect their minds, half-bloods infect their government and homes… Though of it all, the Ra'Jin are our main concern. All around us, Jin cries out in pain. We wish to request the aid of Martok in cutting out the disease that is Tanvu from these islands."
Npc Dialogue
Tadven Basaltheart
- "The earth beneath our feet is the very foundation of all else that stands upon this world."
- You say, "Tadven Basaltheart, Speak Silion sent me to you."
- "Did he now?" asks Tadven Basaltheart. "Why?"
- "He charged me with a diplomatic mission to Martok," you say. "I am to speak with the orcs and goblins about join in a fight against the Ra'Kin and Tanvu as a whole."
- "Ah," says Radven, "so you are willing to undergo this mission? You understand what we mean to accomplish?"
- "Not everything," you say. "In fact, Silion said very little about it. He said you would explain in full."
- Tadven nods and says, "Tanvu is becoming a danger to Kojan. While I sympathiza their struggle, it is no secret many of their highest officials have been consumed by the ulvari, and they are allowing the Ra'Jin to run rampant, corrupting Jin."
- "It is for their sake as well as our own, and most importantly for that of the Jin, that we have deemed it necessary for the control of Tanvu to leave their hands," he says.
- "And if Tanvu will not accept outside control, well then, then it must be cut off," he says. "Like a festering limb, its rot will soon spread to the rest of the islands if nothing is done."
- "So you wish for Martok to help you in this?" you ask.
- Tadven Basaltheart nods and says, "There are those on this council who would not agree to such a course. While the Warden of the Sun herself agrees with this course, the majority would never vote to attack Tanvu."
- "We need Martok's military might," he says.
- "So Ca'ial Brael will not involve itself in the fight?", you ask. Tadven nods. "Then what is Ca'ial Brael offering?"
- "Information," he responds. "We happen to know that Tanvu has an artifact that repels spirits, and that Martok has a bit of a problem with spirits ravaging their forests."
- "We will also send some of our own to deal with the Ra'Jin," he says, "but it will be a small force, and it will not be known to the rest of the council until it is done. When the hear the pained cries of the Jin cease, and all of the wood elves of Ca'ial Brael cry out with relief, knowing that the Jin is no longer in pain, they will have no option but to commend us."
- "So as Martok takes on Tanvu, you will deal with the Ra'Jin?" you ask. Tadven nods and you continue, "Shall I go straight to the Warchief with this, or build support with others first?"
- "You need to build support before going to the Warchief," he says. "There is a war advisor in Tawar Galan who the Warchief trusts without question. Gain his support, and you will have a foot in. He should also be about to tell you who else to get on board."
- "And take this with you," he says, handing you a rod. "A raki constructed it to mimic the powers of the Tanvu shield. Flick it once, and a spirit will follow; flick it twice, and they will expire."
Warseer Krevnar
- Krevnar sneers at you and says. "I am only here at the request of a man I admire, and you are not that man. I will be gone soon."
- You say, "Are you Warseer Krevnar?"
- "Oh?" sneers Warseer Krevnar. "Who's asking?"
- You say, "I am here on behalf of Tadven Basaltheart of Ca'ial Brael, and wish to talk to you about war, which I do believe is the business of Martok."
- Warseer Krevnar chuckles and says, "Haven't you heard? The business of Martok is peace now. We have been arranging a council here in Tawar Galan, where all of the nations of Kojan can 'talk' about their issues."
- "And do you believe that this is really what Martok is good at?" you ask.
- Warseer Krevnar shrugs and says, "I have not known talking to resolve issues, but I have known aces and swords to do a good job of it. But if the Governor and Warchief want this, I will not grumble."
- You say, "Do you think that talking can really solve the problem of Tanvu?"
- "What problem is that?" asks Warseer Krevnar, looking at you appraisingly.
- "That they are infested with ulvari," you say, "who not only attack their city, but consume their minds. They have allowed the Ra'Jin, to flourish, and the have let half-bloods occupy their official positions in their government."
- "Does all this sound like traits of a nation you wish to call an ally?" you ask. "Or an enemy? Their corruption may spread to the rest of Kojan, and has no doubt played some part in the yukiona's incursion onto your lands."
- Warseer Krevnar asks, "You think they have something to do with the yukiona?"
- "They may not have put them there," you say, "but the Ra'Jin's corruption of Jin no doubt played some role, and Tanvu is known to have a power that repels spirits - a power they have not lifted a finger to share with you."
- "A power to repel the yukiona…" begins Warseer Krevnar. His face betrays wonder and then cold, hard calculation - the face of a true strategist. "Yes, yes, you are right. The Tanvu humans have brought us down upon their heads. If they cannot resist these corruptors, then we must do it for them."
- You continue, "It has done little for them; for though it may keep the physical mien of the ulvari out, it does not keep the spirits from their heads. It could prove far more effective against the yukiona, however, who only threaten your physical world."
- You say, "I am glad you see the sense in this. Now, as to the arrangements, Ca'ial Brael will provide the main force against the Ra'Jin if you take the city."
- "The city?" he asks, frowning. "They ask us to take the greater burden?"
- "With the city in your hands, the source of the spiritbane power would be yours", you say, "so unless you would rather the elves have it… Or you do not think that Martok has the military might to face Tanvu alone…"
- "No, no," he says, "I think that Martok would consider that fair. We are not afraid to take on the human city."
- You nod and say, "Good, Now, how should I bring this to you Warchief?"
- He frowns and says, "He will want the wod of the Governor, as well as the General, on this matter. You should also speak with Warseer Gulkar. Wildgrowth Forest is his domain, and he will want to push the Warchief toward this artifact Tanvu has."
Warseer Gulkar
- "The Gulgrethor are our greatest enemy, without question… but the threat of the Wildgrowth may be our gravest danger."
- You say, "Warseer Gulkar, you are the chief officer at this Encampment?"
- "I am," he says, nodding stiffly.
- "And this Encampment monitors activity in the Wildgrowth Forest and acts to keep the yukiona corruption from spreading?" you ask.
- "We do," he says. "Though our main concern should be the Gulgrethor. We must rely on foolhardy adventurers to venture into the forest and slay the spirits for us."
- "And how would you feel if the yukiona suddenly stopped coming stayed on their mountain?" you ask.
- "How would I 'feel'?" he asks with a snort. "Our focus would be able to turn to the Gulgrethor completely, and they would be reduced to gore and sinew in no time."
- "I don't know why I need to say it, but I would, of course, be very… happy," he adds, frowning at you. "Why do you tease me with such ideas?"
- "Because it may not be just an idea," you say. "The Tanvu humans have a power that repels spirits; if Martok could have that power, they could use it against the yukiona."
- "And do we expect Tanvu to just give us this power?" he asks.
- "No," you respond, "it will probably come ton you to take it."
- "I see," he says. "Who sent you with this proposition, Mordebi?"
- "Certain elves in Ca'ial Breal," you say, "they wish to see the corruption of Tanvu end, and for Martok clan to put the power that Tanvu currently squanders to good use."
- "But," you say, "Martok would need to provide the military might, as many within Ca'ial Brael would not approve a military strike against Tanvu."
- Warseer Gulkar Snorts and says, "So, Ca'ial Brael asks us to do the dirty work?"
- "Yes," you say, "but also offers you the greater reward. They only wish to see the corruption gone, for the sake of Jin as well as all of Kojan, but you would have the power."
- Warseer Gulkar looks throughful and then frowns, saying, "Why should we believe the false promises of the wood elves? How do we know this power does what you say it can?"
- "I will provide you a demonstration, as this rod I have mimics its power," you say, "and you will send word to your superiors that this power is potent."
- "Very well," says Warseer Gulkar. "Outside, Namor has a yukiona he has been studying. I will call for him to bring it in, and you will show me the power."
Governor Jalixfin
- "Martok has done very well under my leadership."
- You say, "Governor Jalixfin, I know that you're a busy goblin, but I need to speak with you."
- He glances over at you and nods, saying, "Be quick about it."
- You say, "I need to speak with you about a proposal I bring to you from a contingent of wood elven Wardens."
- "Oh?" asks Governor Jalixfin. "They should lower themselves to speak with me?" He chuckles slightly.
- You nod and say, "They propose to make a military alliance with Martok against Tanvu."
- "Against Ranvu?" he asks. "You do realize we are trying to work with the humans, not against them."
- "And Ca'ial Brael thinks that is a mistake," you say. "The humans are corrupted by the ulvari, and the Ra'Jin, who they do not have the time or compunction to deal with, are corrupting Jin. They need their fate taken out of their own control."
- Governor Jalixfin nods and says, "And Ca'ial Brael would provide that control?"
- "Their main concern is having the corruption of Jin stop," you say. "Martok may do as they will with Tanvu."
- "Including taking control of thr artifact they have that repels spirits," you say.
- "Repels spirits?" asks Governor Jalixfin, looking suddently interested.
- "Yes, such a power would be very useful against the yukiona, wouldn't it?" you pose.
- Governor Jalixfin says, "Useful indeed." He smiles.
- "S will you support this then?" you ask.
- The Governor nods and says, "Yes, very well. I do not think an accord between ourselves and the humans will ever last anyway. The wood elves at least share some of our… ideals." He sneers.
General Zewg
- General Zewg just stares at you in an intimidating manner.
- You say, "General, I have a proposal to present to you. Should you approve it, I will bring it on to the Warchief."
- General Zewg studies you and ask, "What proposal is that, Mordebi?"
- You say, "An invasion of Tanvu by your forces, supported by wood elves. The Tanvu humans have lost control of their territory. Ra'Jin, and the ulvari infect the minds of their leaders."
- "It was key members of the council of Ca'ial Brael who recruited me to bring this proposal to you," you say. "Though not the whole of the council supports it."
- "I have managed to gather support for the idea among your fellows, however," you say. "Warseers Krevnar and Gulkar approve, as well as Governor Jalixfin."
- "Warseer Gulkar was particularly interested when I told him about a power the Tanvu humans have that shields their city from the ulvari," you say.
- "We do not have ulvari here," says General Zewg, curious but wary.
- "Ah, but this power works on all manner of spirits," you say. "Including yukiona. He hoped that if such a power could drive them back, his unit would be fre to focus on the Gulgrethor."
- General Zewg nods and says, "We do not need the yukiona causing more trouble for us. Having them gone would be a relief."
- "I know that your people are proposing to form a council in which the humans are involved," you say, "striving to reach some kind of peace with Tanvu."
- "But do you really think such a peace would last?" you ask. "Don't you find it more likely that Tanvu will agree to the proposal out of an ulterior motive? One that hurts Martok more than it helps it?"
- General Zewg nods and says, "I do not trust then, no. I think it is better we strike now."
- "Then lend your voice in support," you say. "Take up this cause with the Warchief."
- "I will," says the General. "Their power will soon be ours, and Jin will no longer be corrupted by their foul ways."
Quest Completion
- "I am the Warchief, who is it that speaks with me?"
- [Cut Down the Ra'Jin]
- Warchief Zowb says, "The proposal of the wood elves is pleasing to me. It will be done."
- [Continue]
- Warchief Zowb smiles and says, "Martok will help defeat the Tanvu humans, and then Martok will acquire from Tanvu this power to defeat the yukiona and take back our forest."
