Continental Styles Tier Quest Guide

Continental Style Tier Quest's (CSTQ) are the method by which an Artisan from one continent learns the crafting styles of the other continents at the same time receiving the so-called training to increase his or her own continents skill tier. There is no level requirement to start the another continents tier quests, only faction. Also, you do not have to do the Novice quest for your own continent, but you do have to do them for Amateur and beyond. Once you have completed the initial Novice quest for another continent1, you can learn further tiers on that continent that same as a resident does. One very important note to take heed in, is that changing race (via CS) before starting thes CSTQ's will have you barking at a GM soon after, it is always strongly recommended that you check the Official Forums before doing so.

Succeeding in doing the CSTQ's, you, the Artisan, will be allowed the ability to learn and execute crafting recipes found anywhere on all continents withing your skill level. There are five (5) tiers for each continental style, four(4) on your home continent since you already know the novice level recipes. The tiers (with crafting levels), in order, are Novice (0), Amateur (11-20), Apprentice (21-30), Initiate (31-40), and Journeyman (41-50). Titles are also given for each rank (tier). Please note, these are not related, in any way, to the individual specialization quests for each profession.

Gaining Faction

Each CSTQ requires an increasing amount of faction before you can begin the next tier's quest, this often requires additional "factioning" before they can be received. The work involved gaining the faction and gaining the skill needed can be tedious and trying given the number of work orders and side quests you have to complete, but well worth the effort in the end. As you will notice on the tables below, recipes require 100 additional faction points to learn them. The good news is that completing a tier quest usually rewards enough faction to qualify to purchase new recipes and to continue on to the next tier quest.

Once you decide which continent you want to learn recipes on, the next thing you'll need to do is find an outpost with work order taskmasters on the continent that gives faction both for the cities you'll need to visit, and for the continent's artisans. Completed work orders will give faction whether it is a "batch," "set," or "single", regardless of the work order's level. Taskmasters (Finishing or Refining) in designated outposts on any continent will typically provide +2 Continental Artisan faction for each work order completed, an additional bonus amount can be given for higher quality work. You can receive a maximum bonus of +10 faction points by turning in all grade A items, lesser grade items receive lesser amount of faction. It is also important to remember that crafting experience will be received only on Grade C or better. The outposts which you will be visiting for the CSTQ's are listed below for each continent. Hint:For the fastest faction grinding, do trivial, very easy, or easy, single item work orders making sure you make Grade A items.

Each CSTQ will send you on an adventure on each continent you wish to craft on. Although you being with non-KOS faction in the major cities you should note that the static city faction in those cities must be -7999 or higher to avoid trouble in that city. The non-KOS requirement extends to each outpost you visiting during your tier quests. These requirements are only so you can move about freely.

Ahgram, like New Targonor, is a city with a set of three (3) sub-factions, Society factions. Completing work orders in Ahgram is not advisable until you decide to choose a side, be it The Cabal, The Merchant's Guild, or Society of Invention. When you do work orders of one faction, it will lower the other two factions. The recommendation has been to wait until the faction quests are available at level 25, read up on them here Ahgram Society Quest Lines (Levels 25-40). A list of quests within Ahgram can be found Here, some may or may not give actual Ahgram faction.
